Pythagoras theorem

1.    A 10 m long ladder is leaning against a wall. The bottom of the ladder is 6 m
from the base of where the wall meets the ground. At what height from the ground does the top of the ladder lean against the wall?The foot of a ladder is placed 6 feet from a wall. If the top of the ladder rests 8 feet up on the wall, how long is the ladder?
  Ans 10feet
2.    Donna's TV screen is 20 inches long. If the diagonal measures 25 inches, how long is the width of Donna's TV? 
   Ans 15 inches
3.    If the legs of an isosceles right triangle are 5 inches long, approximate the length of the hypotenuse to the nearest whole number. 
  Ans 7 is nearest whole number
4.    Town A is 9 miles from town B, and 12 miles from town C. A road connects towns B and C directly. Find the length of this road.
 Ans 15 mile
5.    Lisa drives her car 5 km south and then 12 km east. How far is she from her starting point?
Ans 13 km
6.    Dick rides his bike 8 km south and then 15 km west. How far is he from his starting point?
Ans 17 km
7.    If a leg of a triangle is 7 ft long, and another leg is 24 ft long, what is the length of the hypotenuse?
   Ans 25 ft
8.    A garden is in the shape of a square of sides 90 feet9.     Find the height of an equilateral triangle of 20 cm.
